Canada's Highest-Paying Jobs For People Who Hate Math

Who knew police detectives make more than lawyers?

Let’s face it, if you don’t like math, some doors in life will be closed to you.

Forget about being a doctor or an engineer; a lot of the tech jobs that are booming in Canada these days will also be out.

Fortunately, there are careers out there that will provide solid paycheques while keeping the number-crunching to a minimum.

To figure out which jobs these are, we turned to the O*NET occupational database, a project backed by the U.S. Department of Labor, which ranks jobs according to their requirements, including math skills.

Then we compared that data against Payscale.com’s database of Canadian salaries to find 21 of the highest-paying jobs that have low math requirements.

The verdict? You can definitely find high-paid work without doing math, but as you’ll see below, it would help if you’re into law enforcement, teaching — or delivering babies.

And if you don’t care about salary and just want a math-free job, here are the three jobs with the lowest math requirements for which pay data was available:

  • Actor (median salary $38,799)
  • Janitor (median salary $26,825)
  • Singer (median salary $25,961)
