How To Recreate Chanel's Fall/Winter 2016 Quilted Eye Makeup At Home

Just recreate the look on your eyes!

Chanel and quilted bags are synonymous. The French fashion house is known for its iconic quilted flap bags, adorned with a chain strap and interlocking C clasps.

And even though not all of us will own one of these coveted bags in our lifetime, there is a way you can rock the classic motif: on your eyes.

At Chanel's fall/winter 2016 ready-to-wear show, the models stormed down the 600m-long runway donning quilted eye makeup to match with their quilted puffer jackets and bags.

Created by makeup artist Tom Pecheux, the look was arguably one of the most popular beauty looks of all fashion month, as it was a nice, bold change from the typical smoky eye.

The best part is, the look is pretty easy to recreate at home. The trick to getting the pattern, according to Chanel makeup artist Julie Cusson, is to use a fishnet stocking as a stencil.

"Before ANYTHING, take your time and don’t rush when you do this makeup at home," Cusson tells HuffPost Canada Style via email.

Below, check out Cusson's step-by-step instructions to getting Chanel's quilted eye makeup at home:

Start off your base by using concealer under the eyes and on the upper eyelids to remove all imperfections. Then, you want to focus on your complexion.

"To create a successful attraction on the eyes, you need to create a perfect flawless complexion. You want a luminous skin that is not shiny," says Cusson. She suggests using a natural liquid foundation and setting it with a natural powder finish. She also advises to slightly powder the upper lid.

To finish off your face, blush your cheekbones with a delicate pink-coral colour and apply a soft pink lipstick (be sure to moisturize with a balm, first!)

Before applying the intricate eye design, you'll need to prep your eyes first. Cusson says to sweep the entire upper eyelid with a luminous beige shadow, all the way from the lash line to the brow, corner to corner.

Then groom your brows to "frame" your eye makeup.

This is when you take out the fishnet stockings. Cusson suggests asking a friend for help the first time around, noting it will also be a "good opportunity to have a nice get together before going out!"

Then, hold and extend the fishnet in front of closed eyes. Gently fill and blot with a large brush eye shadow on top of the fishnet stocking, and make sure the fishnet doesn't move.

Then, to finish off the look, apply mascara on the upper and lower lash line.

Products: Chanel les 4 Ombres in Tissé Essentiel (use the dark shade), Dimensions de Chanel mascara in Noir (N°10) .
