Canada drawn with Nigeria, Japan and Spain at FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup

ZURICH — Canada has been drawn in a pool with Nigeria, Japan and Spain for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Papua New Guinea.

The soccer tournament runs from Nov. 13 to Dec. 3.

Canada finished runner-up to the Americans in the CONCACAF U-20 Women’s Championship, losing 1-0 in the final at San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

It's Canada's seventh trip to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Its best finish was as host in the inaugural championship in 2002 when it won five straight matches before losing 1-0 to the U.S. in the final on a extra-time goal by Lindsay Tarpley.
