Chief of Paul First Nation west of Edmonton charged with assault at band office

STONY PLAIN, Alta. — The chief of an Alberta First Nation has been charged with assault.

Stony Plain RCMP say it responded to a complaint of an assault at the Paul First Nation administration office on March 4.

Police say the alleged victim had minor injuries.

No other details were given.

The Paul First Nation is about 70 kilometres west of Edmonton.

Casey Bird is scheduled to make his first appearance in Stony Plain provincial court on April 6.
