Manitoba Tory leader announces plan for new business advisory group

WINNIPEG — Manitoba Progressive Conservatives say they'll establish a new business advisory council if they win the April 19 provincial election.

Tory Leader Brian Pallister says the council would be tasked with developing ways to create jobs and boost the economy.

He says the council would work with the premier's office and be made up of 12 members from chambers of commerce and other business groups.

The NDP government already has an economic advisory council of business and labour representatives.

Pallister says the economy has not done well under the almost 17 years the NDP has been in power.

He says a new approach is needed with more collaboration with the business community.
