Targeted shooting leaves 1 dead in Williams Lake

One man is dead following a targeted shooting in Williams Lake, B.C. on Wednesday night.

The incident began around 7:45 p.m. PT when the Williams Lake RCMP were called to a home in the 1100 block of Second Avenue to investigate reports that shots may have been fired inside the house.

While en route, the RCMP received information that a 20-year-old man had been brought to a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Cpl. Dave Tyreman.

"Unfortunately despite all emergency medical efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries at hospital," said Tyreman.

The victim's name has not been released.

Police believe the incident to be gang-related, but no suspects have been arrested, said Tyreman.
