Facebook Is Hiding Messages In A Filtered Inbox

So. Many. Messages.

Just when you thought you were up-to-date on all your messages, turns out there is another hidden Facebook message folder.

The mini hack (can we call this a hack?) was introduced to us by Cosmopolitan magazine. The second inbox, which can be found through your original inbox, most likely has messages from users you are not friends with, some type of spam or people who aren't in your network.

In October 2015, Facebook announced it would replace the "other folder" — this was a big deal in 2014 — with "message requests," reports Social Times.

This new change would allow users on Facebook to virtually connect with anyone they wanted to.

"We truly want to make Messenger the place where you can find and privately connect with anyone you need to reach, but only be reached by the people you want to communicate with," Facebook's David Marcus wrote in a blog post.

To access the hidden folder, go to your message inbox and click "message requests."

In this folder, you will most likely see messages from users you're not friends with directly, but they may have mutual friends with you.

Next, go to the bottom of your inbox and click "see filtered requests."

Now we've hit the jackpot.

Of course, while this folder isn't really exciting, we did come across some messages we never received including some trying to reach us for work-related purposes. Check it out yourself and let us know what you find. And yes, expect many of messages to be from complete strangers or spam.
