A starving dog in Spain that was so thin she was named after a spaghetti brand has made a phenomenal comeback thanks to the kind owner of a rescue centre.
Barilla weighed just seven kilograms (16 pounds) when someone took her in to Eduardo Rodriguez's rescue centre in Granada, according to The Daily Mail.
"She'd been so starved of food and water when we took her in that all she could move was her head and her tail," Rodriguez said. "She didn't have any muscle mass."
Barilla — who centre staff believe was locked up with no food or water — could not even walk when she arrived at Rodriguez's centre.
But thanks to him, she has a new lease on life. Seven weeks and a lot of food and care later, the canine has made a full recovery.
Rodriguez, who adopted Barilla to join his five dogs at home, said he "felt a connection" with the pup the moment he saw her.
"We're inseparable now. She's so intelligent and obedient," he said. "The first day I saw her I told my colleagues I was going to keep her and that's the way it's been."
