Now we're definitely not staying at the Stanley Hotel.
Not only did it inspire Stephen King to write "The Shining," but one guest may have evidence that it's haunted.
Henry Yau recently visited the Estes Park, Colo. hotel and used the panoramic setting on his phone's camera to take a photo of the grand stairwell.
He told Fox News that he made sure there were no people in the shot before he took it.
But the next day, he noticed something strange.
"By golly! I think I may have captured a #ghost at #StanleyHotel. #EstesPark," he wrote on Instagram.
Users loved the photo, with some sharing their stories of ghostly apparitions from Stanley Hotel stays.
One paranormal investigator told KUSA his team saw something else in Yau's photo when they zoomed in.
"When we blew up the picture, we immediately saw a second anomaly just to the left of the first figure," said Kevin Sampron.
"To us it looks like the first figure is a lady dressed in black and to the left of her it looks like a child."
The hotel doesn't seem to mind its haunted reputation — it offers a Ghost Adventure Package for guests.
Just one night there gave King the "bones" for "The Shining," he writes on his website. He and his wife were the only guests one September night in 1974 — the hotel was set to close for the winter the next day.
"Wandering through its corridors, I thought that it seemed the perfect—maybe the archetypical—setting for a ghost story," he wrote.
"That night I dreamed of my three-year-old son running through the corridors, looking back over his shoulder, eyes wide, screaming. He was being chased by a fire-hose. I woke up with a tremendous jerk, sweating all over, within an inch of falling out of bed."
Soon after, the book was already coming together in his head.
