Daisy Ridley Talks About Why She Doesn't Post #NoMakeup Selfies

She did not wake up like this.

Sorry Instagram, but Daisy Ridley does not have time for your Valencia and X-Pro II filters. In fact, she has an issue with everyone's so-called-filter-life and she wants to talk about it.

The 24-year-old "Star Wars" starlet took to the image-sharing social media platform yesterday to take on the issues surrounding celebrity #NoMakeup selfies and their accuracy.

Captioning her photo "I woke up like this #nofilter #nomakeup," Ridley's obviously filtered photo shows her wearing eyeliner, mascara. And her brows are perfectly crafted. But she acknowledged, "3 of these statements aren't true."

"Social media is great but also a bit scary cause what people post is the most filtered, most carefully chosen and cleverly edited moments of their lives. And self esteem is a huge issue for people around the world," she wrote in the post which now has over 242,000 likes.

"My skin isn't great so I don't post no make up selfies, much as I'd like to; I have a trainer urging me on in workouts and don't include all the times I say 'I can't do it' and I don't smile all the time but I like to share the pictures where I am. But I actually do love myself, I try to think good thoughts always and am surrounded by the most wonderful people, so I'm keeping it balanced (like the Force, obvs). Just thought I'd say :)"

Ridley's comments on an edited view of life are incredibly refreshing. It makes us really think about our favourite celebrities and their use of the #NoMakeup #NoFilter hashtags. How many It girls are really sharing their most vulnerable and honest moments? Maybe less than we think.

So yes, even though Daisy looks flawless on nearly every red carpet she walks, she deals with the same insecurities we do when it comes to our appearance. But we are giving her major props for championing self-love and letting Internet trolls know that she is okay with admitting her flaws.

May the force be with you, haters.
