CARBONEAR, N.L. — Police have charged a man with the first-degree murder of his five-year-old daughter after her body was found in a burned-out home in eastern Newfoundland.
Harbour Grace RCMP say the 37-year-old man will also face a charge of arson when he appears in court.
The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following the fire early Sunday morning in Carbonear, but police said he is expected to survive.
The fire did extensive damage to the home, but police did not provide details on the cause of death.
RCMP were not releasing the name of the girl or her father.
