Outbreak of norovirus in Swift Current, Saskatchewan health facilities

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. — There is an outbreak of norovirus at two health care facilities in Swift Current.

The Cypress Health Region says an outbreak of the virus that can cause diarrhea and vomiting has been confirmed at Palliser Regional Care Centre.

So far, 13 residents at the facility have shown signs and symptoms of the illness.

Visitors are currently restricted and infection control measures have been stepped up at the facility.

Health officials have also declared an outbreak of the illness at a unit of the Cypress Regional Hospital.

Noroviruses are very contagious and can spread easily from person to person. (CTV Regina)
