Olympic speed skater Denny Morrison forced to be cautious after stroke

CALGARY — Olympic speed skater Denny Morrison says he's sleeping a lot these days while recovering a stroke.

He flew back to Calgary a week ago after spending three nights in a Salt Lake City hospital.

Morrison was en route to Canada when his speech slurred and the left side of his face drooped.

He and girlfriend Josie Spence had been mountain biking the Arizona Trail for 25 days.

Morrison says doesn't yet know when he'll return to training. He says he has to take it easy for the next six weeks and see how he recovers.

The 30-year-old from Fort St. John, B.C., owns four Olympic medals, including a silver and bronze won in 2014 and a gold in 2010.
