Dax Shepard Vasectomy: His Wife Was Less Than Impressed

The actor got the snip after the couple had a pregnancy scare.

Don’t expect Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard to have more kids anytime soon. During an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Shepard revealed that he recently got a vasectomy after he and his wife had a pregnancy scare. Naturally, Bell was less than thrilled.

“Last year, my wife was working in Atlanta. We were there and she all of a sudden goes, ‘Oh, my gosh! I'm so stupid. I've been sick for 10 days and ignoring it; I'm definitely pregnant,’” the 41-year-old explained. “I was like, ‘We're going to turn into Jon & Kate Plus 8 or something. We already have no life! This is going to be not worth living.’ I freaked out. It was so bad.”

Bell and Shepard are already parents to two young daughters: three-year-old Lincoln and one-year-old Delta.

Since Bell had to work, Shepard had to wait eight hours before his wife took a pregnancy test. “For eight hours I was like imagining my life with all these kids,” he said.

Two days later, the “Parenthood” star had a vasectomy. “I had a vasectomy and Kristen was not thrilled that I did it so quickly,” he told host Jimmy Kimmel. “But I'm a man of action, so I was in and out. I was back in Atlanta two days after that shooting a Samsung commercial.”

On Twitter, some fans were quick to criticize Shepard for not consulting his wife before getting the snip. “Wow how can u do that without asking or at least talking it over wife ur spouse!” one wrote.

However, in an interview from February 2015, Bell hinted that she had already spoken to Shepard about getting a vasectomy.

I don't want to be outnumbered!” she told Natural Health magazine about having more kids. “I think we're stopping at two. I'm not even sharing a soda with Dax until he gets his tubes tied!”

Earlier this month, the 35-year-old actress reiterated this sentiment when she told Ellen DeGeneres that she did not want to have more children.

Man on man is all I can handle,” she said on “Ellen.” “I feel like I would be too scattered. I’m already very scattered, so I can’t. I’ve got two eyes, two hands. I’m good.”
