CALGARY — A seven-year-old Calgary girl is in hospital in critical, life-threatening condition after being hit by a vehicle driven by her father.
Police say the girl was outside the family home when the father, in his 40s, backed out of the driveway in his pickup truck without realizing she was standing in the way.
She sustained traumatic head injuries and was rushed to hospital.
Neighbours say the girl's mother, who is a nurse, gave her medical aid until EMS responded.
Police are calling it a tragic accident, adding alcohol and speed were not factors.
