Closing arguments to begin at murder trial of men accused of killing Tim Bosma

HAMILTON — Closing arguments are to begin today in the murder trial of two men accused of killing a Hamilton father who disappeared three years ago on a test drive of a truck he was trying to sell.

Lawyers for Dellen Millard are expected to take the day to argue their client's case in the death of Tim Bosma.

Millard, 30, of Toronto, and Mark Smich, 28, of Oakville, Ont., have pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.

Smich has testified that it was Millard who fatally shot Bosma and burned his body in an animal incinerator.

Millard's lawyer has suggested that it was Smich who shot Bosma in a struggle inside the truck, while the Crown alleges the pair meticulously planned for more than a year to kill and burn a human being.

The trial began hearing evidence on Feb. 1 and heard testimony from more than 90 witnesses.
