Bags of Neilson brand chocolate milk recalled over listeria concerns

OTTAWA — Dairy company Saputo Inc. is recalling bags of Neilson brand partly skimmed chocolate milk due to possible Listeria contamination.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the milk was sold in four litre bags with a best before date of June 1, 2016 in Ontario and Quebec.

The agency says the recall was triggered by findings during an investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak.

It says there have been reported illness that may be associated with the consumption of the product. Further lab testing is underway to confirm the link.

Food contaminated with listeria can cause vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headaches and neck stiffness.
