Bike thieves, beware. This cowboy is coming for you.
Witnesses outside a Walmart in Eagle Point, Ore. were stunned to see Robert Borba lasso an alleged bike thief Friday while on horseback.
“He did it so well, I thought, man, he must be in a rodeo or something. It was perfect,” Rob Roque, who was landscaping at the store at the time, told NBC5 News.
Borba told the station he had been at Walmart to pick up dog food when he heard a woman yell that someone was taking her bike. The rancher could see the man getting away.
"I wasn't going to catch him on foot," the 28-year-old rodeo cowboy told the Medford Mail-Tribune. "I just don't run very fast."
He freed his horse, Long John, from his trailer, and chased after the suspect, who eventually ditched the bike and started to run away on foot.
Borba said he managed to lasso the man around his legs, and he fell to the ground.
“I just roped him and the rope went down around his feet and I just rode off like I would if I’d roped a cow or something by myself,” he told NBC5.
The thief grabbed a nearby tree to try to free himself, but no luck, according to the Mail-Tribune.
He looked utterly surprised to see Borba, the rancher told the outlet, asking if he had a badge to do what he did.
“I just roped him and the rope went down around his feet and I just rode off like I would if I’d roped a cow or something by myself."
The cowboy held the suspect until the cops arrived on scene, according to CBS 4 WCCO Minnesota.
"He thought I was going to rip his legs off, so he told me to let him go, and I didn't let him go because I figured if you stole a bike, you're not very trustworthy," Borba said.
Police told KTVL they've arrested 23-year-old Victorino Arellano-Sanchez in the theft and that he's being held in a county jail.
Borba, who witnesses dubbed "The Lone Ranger," was apparently keen to get back to work after the dramatic capture.
While still on the horse, he reportedly asked, "Can I have my rope back? I gotta go."
