Strawberry Moon Photos Are Absolutely Stunning

Monday night's moon was a special one.

For the first time in decades, a full moon coincided with the summer solstice.

According to The Old Farmer's Almanac, the June full moon is called the "strawberry moon" by some indigenous tribes who used it as "a signal to gather ripening fruit."

Last night's "Strawberry Moon" really did look like strawberry color with all the smoky haze we had in the air. The Strawberry Moon is when the full moon coincides with the summer solstice and only occurs once every 70 years. It was given the name strawberry from Algonquin Indian tribes associated it with the strawberry harvest season.
