Fitness Blogger Shares Photo Of Her Bloated Belly To Prove A Point

"A bloated belly is "not fat."

Sometimes it's easy to be hard on ourselves when we're scrolling through our Instagram feed looking at photos of inspiring women.

But one of those women — a fitness blogger named Tiffany Brien — is shattering the illusion that they're "perfect."

The U.K.-based fitness blogger, who has a following of 27K on Instagram, recently shared before-and-after photos of her bloated belly on Facebook, calling it a "reality check."

"No I'm not 6 months pregnant," she wrote on June 15, along with side-by-side photos of her belly looking swollen and flat. "It's just my food baby....These two photos are 12 hours apart, left before bed and right when I woke up."

Her point? That bloggers and Instagram "stars" aren't "perfect" and that what they post is heavily edited and curated to show only one aspect of their life.

Even though her Instagram makes it look like she's living her #BestLife...

... she admits that these photos are only an edited version of her life.

"We are not all what we seem on social media," she continued. "I thought I would share a bad day with you to show you nobody is 'perfect' and it is ok to have an off day where your body just decides to not play ball. Don't worry girls, it happens to the best of us, all part and parcel of being a female! It is a delightful cocktail of lack of sleep, stress, hormones and food intolerances. A mixture for a whole lotta bloat."

She also shared her tips for de-strressing and feeling good about yourself, including getting lots of sleep, drinking peppermint tea, learning to relax and not overexercising. A bloated belly is "not fat," she reminds us. "Exercising will most likely make it worse."
