Less than a month after coming out as queer, Montreal singer Coeur de pirate (known offstage as Béatrice Martin) has confirmed to the world that she's in a relationship.
Martin posted a photo of a rehearsal with Against Me! frontwoman Laura Jane Grace on Tuesday, referring to Grace as her "s/o," or significant other. Grace, who came out as transgender in 2012, is an American musician who leads the punk band.
Coeur de pirate came out as queer in June, after the worst mass shooting in U.S. history at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando.
She shared the news in a blog for VICE music channel NOISEY, writing she could "no longer be scared of what people might think about me."
"I’m coming out for my daughter who needs to learn that love knows no race, religion, gender or orientation," she wrote.
Rumours about a relationship had been swirling since Martin and Grace shared a passionate kiss onstage in June at Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theatre.
Against Me! and Coeur de pirate will be performing at Quebec City's summer music festival July 10.
