Robin Williams’ daughter Zelda has paid tribute to him in the most beautiful way. To mark what would have been the late actor’s 65th birthday on July 21, the 26-year-old shared a heartwarming photo with her dad to Instagram.
In the black-and-white photo, Williams is seen goofing around with his three kids: Zachary, Zelda and Cody.
“Still not really sure what to do on days like today…” Zelda wrote. “I know I can’t give you a present anymore, but I guess that means I’ll just have to keep giving them in your name instead.”
“This year, I tried to help three causes you cared about in one; rescue dogs, people suffering from disabilities, and our nation’s wounded veterans, so I donated to freedomservicedogs.org. They rescue pups from shelters and train them so that they can be paired with someone in dire need of their help and companionship. Thought you'd get a kick out of furry, four legged friends helping change the world, one warrior in need at a time.”
“Happy birthday Poppo,” she concluded. “Shasha, Zakky, Codeman and I all love you and miss you like crazy. Xo.”
Next month will mark the second anniversary of Williams’ death. The beloved actor took his own life in August 2014 after suffering “severe depression.” According to his widow, Susan Schneider, Williams was also in the early stages of Parkinson's disease before he died.
The last photo Williams shared on his own Instagram account was actually a throwback of him and his daughter. In the caption, the then 63-year-old wished Zelda a happy birthday.
In the two years since his death, Zelda has rarely posted about her father. However, the day after he passed away, she did share a quote from the children’s book “The Little Prince” in his memory:
And earlier this year, Zelda also showed off the late comedian’s goofy side by sharing a photo of him in a “Bronco's cheer skirt” for the Super Bowl:
Zelda is Williams’ second child. The late comedian had her and her brother, 24-year-old Cody, with second wife Marsha Garces. He also had another son, 33-year-old Zachary, with first wife Valerie Velardi.
