TORONTO — North American stock indexes and the Canadian dollar are up moderately this morning.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX index advanced 58.57 points to 14,814.19.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 41.33 points at 18,570.62, the broader S&P 500 composite index was ahead 5.26 points to 2,186.15 and the Nasdaq composite gained 18.93 points to 5,232.07.
The Canadian dollar was at 76.20 cents US, up 0.23 of a cent from Monday's close.
The September crude contract was down five cents at US$42.97 per barrel and September natural gas fell 7.5 cents to US$2.67.
December gold contracts rose $5.30 to US$1,346.60 an ounce and September copper contracts fell a cent to US$2.15 a pound.
