Ellen DeGeneres Defends Her Controversial Usain Bolt Tweet

"It is the furthest thing from who I am."

Comedian Ellen DeGeneres has come under fire after tweeting a photo of herself on the back of Olympic champion Usain Bolt.

"This is how I’m running errands from now on. #Rio2016," DeGeneres captioned the photoshopped image.

Though DeGeneres thought the photo would circulate as a lighthearted meme, Twitter users saw it in an entirely different light and accused the talk show host of racism.

But not everyone is offended by the picture. Bolt himself retweeted it on Monday night. The next day, DeGeneres took to her account once more to acknowledge the controversial photo.

"I am highly aware of the racism that exists in our country. It is the furthest thing from who I am," she wrote defending herself and the photo.

What do you think? Is Ellen's photo racist? Let us know in the comments below.
