Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. has announced a US$4.4-billion friendly deal to buy Texas-based CST Brands Inc. Alimentation Couche-Tard said it would pay US$48.53 cash per share of CST Brands, the fourth-largest operator of convenience stores in the U.S. In a related announcement, Alimentation Couche-Tard would then sell most of CST's business in Canada, including rights to use the Ultramar brand, to Parkland Fuel Corp. (TSX:PKI) (up $4.02, or 15.92 per cent, to $29.27 on 2.2 million shares) of Red Deer, Alta., for about C$965 million.
