Drake + Rihanna, sitting in a tree ...

Drake missed accepting his own award for Best Hip Hop Video becuase he was "stuck in traffic," but neither hell nor high water could keep him from Rihanna's shining moment at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night.

The 29-year-old Toronto rapper stepped up on stage in a tux to present Rihanna with her lifetime achievement Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, and snuck in a personal confession while he was there.

Drake commenced with a minutes-long speech that could have doubled for a wedding speech — or proposal.

He reminisced about their first meeting 11 years ago, on the set of the "Pon De Replay" music video, which preceded "Work" another video shot by Director X, that was also filmed in Toronto.

The rapper counted off her achievements and claims to fame, from her performance, to her style to her raw attitude.

He commended her for being the "same girl from Barbados surrounded by the same friends speaking with the same accent," and finished revealing:

A lil' shot of him and Rihanna cuddling while the CN Tower looms above. He's in love and he wants the world to know it!
