Dwayne Reed Is The Fourth Grade Teacher We All Wish We Had

He gets an A+ in our books.

A group of Grade 4 students at Chicago’s Jane Stenson Elementary School are the envy of the internet, after their teacher created an epic music video to welcome them back to school.

Dwayne Reed is first-year student teacher and created the fun and inspiring video to introduce himself to his students and set the tone for the rest of the year.

In his three-minute video, Mr. Reed sings and raps an original song, making us all wish he was our teacher!

“Hello, I'm your teacher. My name's Mr. Reed and it's very nice to meet ya,” Reed raps. “It's my first year teaching, so it's all real exciting. Got some ideas and I'd really like to try them. Like making songs to remember what you hear. We’ll be learning so much by the end of the year.”

The clip was posted to YouTube by the video’s director, Ty Gotham. In the description, Gotham explained: “The song and video emphasize the reality that hard work is a must, but that school and learning can certainly be fun!”

This is definitely true as Mr. Reed sings about math and science dressed in a chemist jacket, but also shows off his silly side by dribbling a basketball in the school’s gym.

Since the video was posted, the fourth-grade teacher has become a viral sensation. Last week, the 25-year-old appeared on “Good Morning America” to explain his inspiration behind the song.

“I just kind of wanted to spice up the old-fashioned [back-to-school] newsletter, so I thought, ‘Man, I'm kind of good at music, I know how to put lyrics together well. Let's go ahead and put a song that will get the kids excited,’” he said.

Reed also later told ABC 13: “The video set a standard that I wanted to set that says, ‘Hey, I'm gonna work really hard, and what I'm gonna put forward is my best foot every single time.’”

Parents and teachers at Jane Stenson Elementary School saw the video for the first time last week. Since then, Reed says he has received a lot of positive feedback. And it’s not hard to see why!

Can we all go back to the fourth grade now?
