Cat Deeley knows the struggle of picking a baby name all too well. In fact, she and her husband Patrick Kielty nearly had to “file divorce papers” because they couldn’t agree on one for their son.
“We did fall out a little bit over the name,” the 39-year-old mom revealed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” “We left the hospital without a name — the baby was just called ‘Baby Deeley,’ which pissed my husband off anyway.”
According to the “So You Think You Can Dance” host, she and Kielty had “many different versions of names.” However, because Deeley preferred simple names like James, and Kielty liked more unique monikers like Val, the couple just couldn’t decide.
After many discussions and doing the “Post-it note thing where you come up with different ones and you put them in different orders,” Deeley put her foot down. “I thought, ‘You know what? I’ve done the work, I’ve done the nine months, no glasses of wine, no nothing — I’m going to win when it comes down to it,’” she said.
Unfortunately, her husband didn’t give in. “We weren't talking to each other,” Deeley reflected. “It was awful, it was just horrific. Because everyone says, ‘Oh, when you see them, you'll know.’ We didn't know!”
It wasn’t until Deeley’s mom acted as the peacemaker that the couple settled on the name Milo for their son.
Originally, Deeley loved the name Milo for a baby girl because of a character in the Gene Kelly film “An American in Paris.” Both Deeley’s mom and Kielty then noted that Milo is a boy’s name.
“So we did all the looking up on the Internet, and he's an Olympian god/hero who saves somebody – it's all very nice,” the new mom said.

Baby Milo, who was born in January, is the couple’s first child. Deeley announced his birth on Twitter, writing, “Beyond delighted to announce the birth of our baby boy last week. All doing well & we couldn't be happier... 3 really is the magic number!”
Since then, the TV host has gushed about how much she loves being a mom.
“I'm besotted with the baby and really enjoying motherhood,” she told Closer magazine in March.
She also commented on her post-baby body: “People keep asking me if I've been hitting the gym, but I haven't. I think breastfeeding is key and it's worked well for me. Add to that running around after a new baby and you don't need to work out.”
