A single mom is being praised for dressing up as her son’s father so he could attend “Donuts with Dad” day at school.
Yevette Vasquez, of Fort Worth, Texas, posted photos of the event on Facebook and explained: “I wasn't about to let [my son] miss out..... I know seeing other dads with there (sic) kids isn't easy for mine but its life, at least I can do whatever it takes to put a smile on that face.”
Photos of Vasquez’s costume, which came complete with a baseball cap, plaid shirt and moustache, have now gone viral with over 5,000 shares. In the comments, hundreds of users applauded the mom.
The mom, who also has two other boys, told CNN that her son Elijah has missed out on previous father-son events at school, which was why she was inspired to dress as dad.
“I saw that same, sad look on his face, and I didn't want that,” she said. “I wish I would have done it sooner.”
