Thanks, Hilaria Baldwin, for showing us what a woman who just gave birth really looks like.
The yoga instructor and wife of Alec Baldwin became a mom for the third time on Monday, and posted a sweet photo with brand-new Leonardo Angel Charles on Instagram.
But just 24 hours after his birth, the svelte 32-year-old opted to share another candid photo — this time, of her postpartum body.
"I did the same thing right after Rafael (her previous child) was born," she wrote.
"It always makes me a bit nervous to do something like this, but I feel that in the age of such strong body shaming, I want to do all that I can to normalize a real body."
Her belly sticks out in the photo, which she says she took in a hospital bathroom.
"Many of you know that I love to show the process of life's experiences on the body," she wrote.
She also opened up about one of the more unpleasant after-effects of giving birth, saying she was asked this same question after her last pregnancy.
"Where all the pads for bleeding? I took them out briefly to snap this pic as there is a limit to how much you need to see :)."
She did post a similar shot after Rafael was born last June.
While many new moms have trouble losing weight, some might be surprised to see that Hilaria still looks, well, pregnant.
But that protruding belly doesn't go away right after birth. That's because the uterus massively expands when you're pregnant, according to The Bump, and since it took nine months for it to get to that size, it takes awhile for it to shrink again. Besides, it's evidence that a body just did something amazing!
