Bighorn Sheep Cause Traffic Jam In Radium Hot Springs, B.C.

Behold: A British Columbian traffic jam.

Kelsey Peloso and her family were passing through Radium Hot Springs in B.C.'s Kootenay region on Sunday when traffic suddenly stopped.

"We were wondering what was going on," Peloso told HuffPost Canada on Wednesday. "We thought they were horses or something in the way."

Turns out there were about a dozen bighorn sheep moseying across the road.

"Everyone just pulled over to watch. They were walking through town and just didn't care," said Peloso, who lives in Calgary.

"They were really big and neat to see," she added. "A once-in-a-lifetime sight."

Eventually, the herd sauntered off the road and traffic got moving again.

B.C. is home to two sub-species of bighorn sheep — the California Bighorns and Rocky Mountain Bighorns. The former can be found in and around the Thompson-Nicola region, while the latter live in the East Kootenays.
