EDMONTON — A developer and two contractors have been charged in the death of a worker crushed in a trench at an Edmonton construction site last year.
The 55-year-old man, whose identity was not released by police, was connecting a sewer line to a new home in April 2015 when the trench collapsed.
It took firefighters several hours to find the man's body, which was buried 1 1/2 metres deep.
An investigation began the next day.
Occupational Health and Safety says a total of 21 charges have been laid against developer Haya Homes, Sahib Contracting and prime contractor Sukhwinder Nagra.
Their first court date is set for Nov. 2.
