WHITEHORSE — Voters in Yukon go to the polls on Nov. 7.
After weeks of unofficial campaigning by all the parties in the legislature, Premier Darrell Pasloski ended the wait by calling the election today.
This will be the 38th general election in the territory and the second for Pasloski as premier and leader of the Yukon Party.
The party held 11 seats in the 19-seat legislature at dissolution.
The Opposition New Democratic Party held six seats under leader Liz Hanson while the Liberals led by Sandy Silver had one seat.
There was one Independent.
The 31-day campaign is expected to centre on First Nations relations, the economy and the battle over a carbon tax on greenhouse gas emissions.
