Easy, breezy, beautiful!
CoverGirl just took one massive step foward in the beauty world by naming vlogger and social media star James Charles as their first-ever male brand ambassador.
Oh, and he's only 17.
The New York-based "aspiring makeup artist," who has over 425,000 Instagram followers, now joins the likes of Katy Perry and Zendaya as faces of the brand.
"All of our CoverGirls are role models and boundary-breakers, fearlessly expressing themselves, standing up for what they believe and redefining what it means to be beautiful. James Charles is no exception. One year ago, he boldly chose to launch his Instagram to the world, using transformative, dynamic makeup looks to showcase the many facets of his personality, serving as an inspiration to anyone who might have been afraid to do the same," the brand said in a statement according to Fashionista.
MIDNIGHT 🌙 wanted to show y'all my new dark hair & claws 👀 ____ my nails were snatched for the gods by @picasonails 💕 she's so kind AND talented (duh), you need to check her out! we went with matte black almonds but I wanted an accent nail so she gave me a chrome nail 😍 I'm obsessed!! ____ my new dark hair was done by @sassysio over at @artandautonomy 😍 I desperately needed help with my faded rats nest that was living under my hats, and I absolutely love how it turned out!
Taking to Instagram to announce his new role, Charles said he was "living out one of his biggest dreams" becoming the "first ever coverBOY."
"I've been telling you lately I've been working on something huge (and trust me when I say I did not lie!) I've been on set this entire past weekend working on my first ever TV commercial and I am so excited to announce that I am the first-ever male CoverGirl. Oh my gosh!" Charles said in the Insta video.
Hollywood Life reports James will appear in TV, print and digital ads for the new CoverGirl So Lashy! by blastPRO mascara and the first campaign features the 17-year-old with none other than Katy Perry.
When he was 16-years-old, Charles opened up to Marie Claire about how his parents questioned him on whether or not he was transgender, trying to become a woman because of his love for makeup.
"It was a big argument," James said. "It took a lot of thorough conversations to explain that it's an art form for me. I'm still confident as a boy and I will always be a boy. I can be confident with bare skin and with a full face."
We're so excited to see what James and CoverGirl have in store for us next!
