Whether it’s fixing the furnace or building a shelf, handy men and women are, well, handy to have in your crew. Over the decades, TV has allowed us to watch leaders of the trade, with their sidekick trucks, revolutionize the way we care for our homes. They’ve taken on projects from the simple to the extreme, giving us laughter, and the confidence to tackle our own projects both big and small. These were family men and women who are tough leaders, dependable and responsible much like the 2017 Ford Super Duty, the smartest, most capable Super Duty ever. Let’s take a walk down memory lane and remember some of the most iconic figures.

Tim “The Toolman” Taylor

Tim Taylor claimed to know everything about home improvement, but spent a lot of time revving up his power tools and getting injured instead of actually fixing things. That’s where his sidekick Al came in -- the real brains behind the operation. But at the end of the day, Tim was a true family man. With every hug, piece of advice and grunt shared with his kids, he showed just how big his heart is and how dependable he can be.

Mag Ruffman

This Anne of Green Gables actress swapped out her floor-length dresses for a tool belt, jeans and T-shirt for the home improvement reality show “Anything I Can Do.” Ruffman never shied away from showcasing her quirky personality and embraced all her DIY fails. She proved that she can take on any project she set her mind to and when things broke or didn’t quite fit, laughing it off was the best solution. The best part of Ruffman was how tough and savvy she was. She wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty and knew her way around every power tool. She is a true leader in the DIY scene.

Red Green

This much-loved leader of Possum Lodge was a self-proclaimed handyman who really loved his duct tape -- "the handyman's secret weapon," as he used to say in the Canadian sketch comedy show. In his red plaid shirt and suspenders, Green would provide savvy life hacks, like this one where he describes how a hand mixer can motorize a manual window crank. It’s worth a watch as it’s practicality at its finest!

Mike Holmes

If there’s a problem, count on Mike Holmes to make it right. For more than 30 years, Holmes has been a leader in complete home inspection and best-in-class home renovation work. His Gemini-award winning reality show, “Holmes on Home” is a viewer favourite.

Montgomery Scott

Technically he’s an engineer but he’s sure handy. The Enterprise is about to plunge into a black hole? No problem. Star Trek’s Mr. Scott can fix that by ejecting the warp drive creating an explosion that will save the ship. If you need a dependable man on your spaceship, Scott is dude you should call -- a leader we all look up to.

Bob Vila

Bob Vila isn’t just a TV star, he’s a genuine handyman. He’s known for the classic television shows “This Old House” and “Bob Vila’s Home Again” but did you know that he studied journalism and was in the Peace Corps? He led any construction site he was on with calm authority – he was known for precision and quality workmanship, much like the 2017 Ford Super Duty. The Super Duty’s Best-in-Class Horsepower, torque, payload, and towing combine with innovative features like Adaptive Cruise Control and the Trailer Reverse Guidance System to make any maneuver a smooth one.

These handy people are as reliable as Ford’s 2017 Super Duty line of trucks -- a leader in the truck segment and dependable vehicle choice. With its high-strength steel frame, and upgraded key components including beefier suspension, and an upgraded transmission Super Duty has a best in class max payload of 7,630 lbs, and a max tow rating of 32,500 lbs. With technology that makes hauling and towing easier, Super Duty is the most capable heavy-duty pickup we’ve ever built. The truck can expertly execute any task. Its class-exclusive adaptive steering system can maneuver through any terrain, and adaptive cruise control, and lane guidance system help keep you on track.
