Miss Iceland is telling the world she is no longer interested in competing in a beauty competition after being told to lose weight.
Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir recently travelled to Las Vegas to take part in Miss Grand International, one of the world's leading international beauty pageants.
But after arriving, the 20-year-old Icelandic beauty announced on her Facebook page she would be dropping out of the competition after organizers told her she was too "fat" and encouraged her to "stop eating breakfast" and "eat just salad for lunch."
"I intend to stand up for myself, women everywhere, and the Icelandic people," she wrote on Facebook. "I will not let them tell me I am too fat to look good on stage. I have quit. I will not be taking part in Miss Grand International."
On Monday, Jónsdóttir took to Instagram to share her resignation letter to Nawat Itsaragrisil, one of the pageant's presidents.
The Reykjavik-native wrote:
"If anyone tells me that I’m too fat or whatever, they just don’t deserve me. And that’s why I left. Miss Grand International doesn’t deserve my face, body, personality or heart. I truly hope that the organisation opens their eyes because the year is 2016 and if you are gonna hold an international pageant you have to be able to see international beauty."
And if you think Arna is jumping straight back on a flight to Iceland, you're wrong. The beauty queen announced she's staying in Vegas for a few days to explore the city and "eat good food."
Way to go, Arna!
