Russian Tennis Star Svetlana Kuznetsova Cuts Off Hair During Match At WTA Finals

Svetlana Kuznetsova just took the phrase "leave it all out on the court" to the next level.

Russian tennis pro Svetlana Kuznetsova just took the phrase "leave it all out on the court" to the next level.

During her match against Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland at the WTA Finals in Singapore, the 31-year-old literally cut off her thick braid with scissors given to her by the umpire during the start of the third set.

"It was bothering me a lot. When I was hitting the forehands I hit a good shot and it would hit my eye," the two-time Grand Slam champion said. "I thought, 'What's more important? My hair, which can grow, or the match?'"

And the sacrifice paid off — Kuznetsova beat Radwanska 7-5, 1-6, 7-5.

And her opponent didn't even realize until after the match that Kuznetsova hacked off her locks. And she agreed with the Russian's priorities.

"I didn't even know that," Radwanska said during an interview. "Good thing she didn't cut her anything else. I think hair is not very important."

And if you think hair is only an issue faced by female players, think again. British tennis sensation Andy Murray cut off a few inches of his hair when playing Rafael Nadal in 2015. He, however, lost the match.

Well, that's one way to get out of a hairy situation!
