CMA Awards: The Most Outrageous Looks From Years Past

Denim, sequins and fringe, oh my!

Okay, we're going to be honest: a few of us here at HuffPost Canada Style aren't the biggest country music fans.

But while our familiarity with the genre is limited, our appreciation for country music stars' style is boundless.

Between the cowboy hats, denim flares and of course, embellished boots, there's no denying that the country music world has a unique sense of style, to say the least, and we 100 per cent admire them for rocking their ensembles with confidence, especially at award shows such as the Country Music Association Awards, where the red carpet is almost wilder than the MTV Video Music Awards.

So in honour of the 2016 CMA Awards, which airs Wednesday evening, we decided to take a look back at the most outrageous looks the annual show has blessed us with.

First thing's first, we're not too sure what's up with Kenny's Napoleon-esque jacket. But we're not gonna lie, we're kinda liking John's blinged-out two-tone jeans.

She's flying!
Dolly Parton, 2004

A full-on lace turtleneck bodysuit isn't something easy to pull off...but somehow, Shania did it.
