It hasn't exactly been a good year.
So any distraction from the barrage of trash 2016 has produced is extremely welcome.
Enter this video of a polar bear in Manitoba petting a dog.
Prepare your heart and watch the footage above.
UPDATE: While the footage itself is still great, this story has — in classic 2016 fashion — taken a sad turn. According to CBC News, Manitoba conservation officers had to "immobilize" one bear on the property where the video was shot after it killed and ate a dog. Read more on the story here.
David De Meulles, a Churchill-based part-time tour guide, shot the video over the weekend while showing two clients around the area, according to CBC News.
"I've known the bears to have somewhat friendly behaviour with the dogs, but for a bear to pet like a human would pet a dog is just mind-blowing," he told the broadcaster.
De Meulles said the scene was "absolutely beautiful" and even brought one of his clients to tears, according to ABC News.
"I was so happy to be able to get her to see such a crazy, once-in-a-lifetime thing," he said. "She was ecstatic."
