Shots fired by Calgary police in city's northwest

Shots were fired in the city's northwest on Tuesday afternoon, as Calgary police attempted to arrest a suspect. 

According to police, the incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. in the 5000-block of 16th Avenue N.W.

Officers with the break-and-enter unit were moving in on a vehicle to make an arrest when the driver put it in reverse and police opened fire.

One person was hit by gunfire, but no officers were injured. 

Police said two people were arrested and there's no word on the condition of the person who was shot.
