VANCOUVER — Charges have been laid against a man who was allegedly wearing a mask and wielding a meat cleaver as he threatened a pedestrian on a Vancouver street.
Police say officers responded to several 911 calls and had the public's help in finding a 39-year-old suspect who did not comply with police instructions but instead began fighting with them.
Officers used a Taser to subdue the suspect on Tuesday night, and police say a meat cleaver was recovered at the scene, along with a second knife, which the man had when he was taken into custody.
Const. Jason Doucette says the suspect and the pedestrian do not know each other and a motive for the threats is not known.
Jeremy Lindstrom was assessed in hospital before being taken to jail, where he remains.
He has been charged with four offences including assault with a weapon.
