WHL Roundup: Jakob Stukel lifts Hitmen over Blazers in shootout win

CALGARY — Jakob Stukel had the only goal in the shootout as the Calgary Hitmen slipped past the Kamloops Blazers 3-2 on Sunday in Western Hockey League action.

Matteo Gennaro and Jordy Stallard scored in the first 3:11 of the game to give Calgary (12-15-2) an early 2-0 lead. Kyle Dumba made 31 saves and turned away three skaters in the shootout to earn the win.

Deven Sideroff and Collin Shirley tied it up for Kamloops (18-12-2) to force overtime. Dylan Ferguson stopped 33 shots for the Blazers.

The Hitmen did not score on their four power plays and Kamloops was 1 for 6 with the man advantage.



SASKATOON — Lukus MacKenzie scored his second and third goals of the season as the Blades rallied past Moose Jaw.

Jordan Henderson put away the winner with 2:13 left in regulation time for Saskatoon (13-18-2), while Braylon Shmyr and Kolten Olynek also scored.

Jayden Halbgewachs had back-to-back goals for the Warriors (18-7-5) and Josh Brook scored just 28 seconds into the game.



EVERETT, Wash. — Dominic Zwerger had a pair of goals to power the Silvertips past Spokane.

Riley Sutter's power-play winner came early in the third period for Everett (22-4-5), while Graham Millar and Connor Dewar also scored.

Jaret Anderson-Dolan struck twice for the Chiefs (13-12-6) and Keanu Yamamoto chipped in as well.



LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Egor Babenko had the power-play winner with just less than five minutes to play as the Hurricanes edged Kelowna.

Brennan Menell, Calen Addison, Jordy Bellerive, Colton Kroeker and Tanner Nagel rounded out the attack for Lethbridge (18-11-4).

Calvin Thurkauf had a pair of goals for the Rockets (19-12-1), while Conner Bruggen-Cate, James Hilsendager and Nolan Foote chipped in.
