WHL Roundup: Kryski has shootout winner as Rockets down Oil Kings 2-1

EDMONTON — Jake Kryski was the lone scorer in the shootout as the Kelowna Rockets edged the Edmonton Oil Kings 2-1 on Sunday in Western Hockey League action.

Jack Cowell forced overtime with his goal 8:45 into the third period for Kelowna (21-12-2). Michael Herringer made 28 saves and turned away three skaters in the shootout for the win.

Nicholas Bowman opened the scoring for Edmonton (16-15-4), while Patrick Dea stopped 29 shots.

Neither team scored on their five power plays.



CALGARY — Jordy Stallard scored the winner at the 13:41 mark of the third period to lift the Hitmen over Kootenay.

Andrei Grishakov and Jakob Stukel also scored for Calgary (13-15-2).

Ryan Pouliot and Austin Wellsby supplied the offence for the Ice (6-22-8).
