Justin Timberlake's Oscar Opening Leads To A Mickey Mouse Club Reunion With Ryan Gosling

Gosling's stoic reaction to Timberlake's surprise tap made waves online, as he appeared to be caught in the moment, or perhaps the magic of his old friend's performance.

Justin Timberlake got the entire Oscar audience on their feet to open up the show on Sunday night, and yes, that included his "The Mickey Mouse Club" co-star and one-time roommate, Ryan Gosling.

Timberlake and Gosling are both nominated in the Best Original Song and Best Actor categories, respectively. But with Timberlake performing his Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated hit "Can't Stop the Feeling," he could not help but say hello to his longtime friend mid-song.

Back in 2011, Timberlake spoke of their decades-long bond on "The Ellen Degeneres Show."

“He’s always been that charismatic and that talented," said Timberlake. "We actually, funny enough, his mother had to keep her job in Canada the second year that we were on the television show and my mom was his guardian for like six months. So we actually lived together when we were that age [about 10, 11 years old]. So we were probably a little closer that the rest of the kids that were on the show just because we had to share a bathroom.”

But, earlier this year, Timberlake was quick to set the record straight about the strength of their preteen friendship, and told The Hollywood Reporter, "We aren't the closest of friends, for whatever reason."

Gosling, who hails from Cornwall, Ont., has since gone on to earn two Oscar nominations; one for "Half Nelson" in 2007, and this year, for his work in "La La Land." He attended the telecast with his older sister, Mandi Gosling.
