CALGARY — An infant was in stable condition in a Calgary hospital after police say the child was left outside for a period of time in very cold temperatures.
Police got a 911 call around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday about a woman with a baby wandering outside, yelling and banging on a door of a residence in northwest Calgary.
The people in the residence did not know the woman.
When police came, they found the woman, but no infant.
A search of the area found a three-month old boy not dressed for the weather in the bushes of the residence.
The woman, who police believe to be the child's mother, has been charged with child abandonment and failing to provide the necessaries of life.
Her name is not being released to protect the identity of the child.
