A good Samaritan is recovering from his injuries after he was hit by a semi as he stopped to help a stranded driver in a snowstorm.
A massive blizzard swept into Manitoba earlier this week, leaving dozens of drivers stranded on highways around the province. Some regions received as much as 40 centimetres of snow, and blowing winds made it nearly impossible to see more than a few metres ahead on highways.
Snowmobiler Bob Scott was out delivering fuel, food and blankets to drivers trapped on the Trans-Canada Highway near Brandon, Man., on Tuesday.
When his snowmobile spun out, he didn't see the semi-trailer heading directly toward him.
The terrifying accident was caught on another driver's dashcam (watch the video above).
Scott survived the crash.
"I have a broken arm and a broken leg and just a lot of bumps and bruises. They had to put pins and stuff into my forearm but other than that I'm fine," he told CBC News.
Witness Jordan Jones was one of a group of drivers that rushed to Scott's aid after he was hit. A clearly shaken Jones recorded a video from his car after paramedics picked up Scott to warn other drivers to stay safe, and not drive on the highways in dangerous conditions.
Brandon RCMP told the Winnipeg Free Press that the driver of the truck was charged with careless driving. The highway was closed at the time of the incident.
