'Scandal' Star Kerry Washington Designs Bag For Domestic Abuse Survivors

"The wounds are so invisible."

Actress Kerry Washington is stepping into the world of handbag design again — and for good reason.

Collaborating with Italian retailer Aquatalia, Washington's created a limited edition bag for Purple Purse, an Allstate Foundation initiative aiming to end domestic violence through financial empowerment.

The purse will retail for US$595 and will only be sold on bloomingdales.com as well as at their flagship store in New York City. And the best part is 100 per cent of proceeds will be benefiting the cause.

"I’ve been working to help end gender-based violence for some time, and fashion is something I’m very passionate about, so it was the perfect way to combine two areas of interest," the "Scandal" star recently old WWD. "I never knew what financial abuse was before I started working with Allstate and Purple Purse, because the wounds are so invisible. It’s the number one reason women don’t leave abusive relationships and it occurs in 99 per cent of all cases of domestic violence."

This collab marks the third time the 40-year-old star has designed bags for Purple Purse.
