Will And Kate Make Their Way To Paris 20 Years After Diana's Death

Though the prince has been there before, it's his first official visit.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are making their first official visit to Paris this week, nearly 20 years after Prince William's mother, Princess Diana died there in a car crash.

The short visit already has a jam-packed schedule with the royal couple set to take in a soccer match, meet with French President Francois Hollande, as well as victims and first responders from the Bataclan and Nice attacks.

The trip, which was arranged by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, is also a political one as it comes days before British Prime Minister Theresa May will officially kick off the Brexit division.

"Although William has visited Paris several times since the death of his mother, this is his first official trip there on behalf of the Government," Royal correspondent Emily Nash told Hello! Magazine. "While his and Kate's visit is very much about boosting UK-French relations, it will also be a poignant one, coming in Diana's 20th anniversary year."

Despite the timing of their trip, the duo aren't expected to publicly revisit sites the Princess of Wales visited in the days leading up to her death.
