Yoga For Sleep: 3 Poses That Will Help You Beat Insomnia

You might not even get to them all 'cause you'll be so sleepy.

After a stressful day at work or home, your mind can betray you and spend the whole night racing.

Let go of the chaos caused by the daily grind and try some yoga before going to bed. In the video above, yoga instructor Rachelle Wintzen shares three simple poses designed to relieve stress and relax your mind. And the best part is you can do them from the comfort of your own bed.

"All day long we are rushing around and working in flight or fight mode," Wintzen tells The Huffington Post Canada. "This tells our adrenals to work hard to cope with internal and external stressors. This is very taxing on our body, and can put us at risk for adrenal fatigue."

To combat these negative effects, Wintzen suggests taking an Epsom salt bath with lavender oil before crawling into bed. While the salts work at relaxing your muscles, the lavender aroma will calm the mind and help put you to sleep.

Once you're cozy in bed try the poses Wintzen suggests in the video above. You don't have to hold them for long, but don't be surprised if you fall asleep before you get through them all.
