'Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown Drops Out Of Collective Con For Her Health

Even child actors can't say yes to every commitment.

We all need to take breaks from time to time, and the same rule applies to our favourite child actors.

This week, “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown took to her Instagram to post a video explaining why she would had to cancel an appearance at Collective Con festival in Jacksonville, Florida.

As she notes, “I think I’ve worked too hard and I have to rest as I’ve had a really long shoot and I’m still shooting Stranger Things.” She and the rest of the cast are currently shooting season two of the hit Netflix show that is scheduled to be released on Halloween. Clearly sad about the situation, she continues by saying “I’m sorry to everyone who is going and I promise you guys I’m gonna get back to you.”

For a 13 year old — OK, for a person of any age — she is extremely busy. Since the release of season one in July 2016, Brown has been involved in several different projects, including a Calvin Klein campaign and the upcoming Godzilla film. With a jam-packed schedule like that, it’s easy to see why she needs a break, and her fans are equally as understanding.

Following her Instagram post, many showed their support and expressed their well wishes in the comments. Fans wrote messages like “Don’t apologize for taking care of your health” and “Your health comes first, always.”

Brown sets a good example for being in touch with your body, even when you’re young. Taking mental health days or breaks from work can help you with your productivity and maintain a healthy lifestyle, according to a study done by the University of Illinois.

But of course, it’s incredibly easy for stars like Brown to work too hard without taking some time for themselves. When one is caught up in a project, it feels impossible to remove yourself — though it can have some serious effects on our health, including lack of sleep and depression.

Last year, rapper Kanye West was hospitalized due to temporary psychosis and sleep deprivation, according to TMZ. The reason, according to the site, was overwork, leading to exhaustion, and the eventual cancellation of his tour.

As they say, the first step to healing is admitting you have a problem, so it’s worthwhile to step back and look at how hard you’re working. We all deserve a break sometimes, so we applaud you Millie Bobby Brown. You’re better off resting now rather than later.
